What if the Russian empire makes massive gains against Austria Hungary and Ottoman Empire (not that the gains are not significant in our timeline) , say in the aftermath of the Brusilov offensive the Austro Hungarian empire begins to fall apart and the Russians capitalize on it and make massive inroads into Hungary further stretching the defense lines of the central powers as the Germans are forced to re-allocate troops to the AH front to prevent the complete collapse of AH and even against the Ottoman empire the Russians make good inroads into Anatolia and thus the Germans also have to dispatch troops to ensure that the Ottomans don't collapse.

All these eases the pressure on the German front of the Russian empire and as the Germans are stretched to the breaking point the French and the British also continue their attack in the western front. If the American and German relations are still as bad as they are in our timeline and the Americans make their entry into the war in exactly the same time and manner as in our timeline and the morale of the Russians being better given the victories against the two enemy powers would the entry of the US ensure the speedy collapse of Germany and early conclusion to the hostilities and the survival of the Tsar and the Russian Empire?

Likely the Imperial Russians in better morale and still around for US entry in WW1 could ensure the early collapse of Germany, the early end to WW1 and the survival of the Tsar and the Russian Empire.

If AH collapses then the Germans are going to be in a very bad spot likely losing soon as they now also have to divert a lot of resources everywhere else, I think they would have to sue for peace very soon or be destroyed.

On problem with the causes cited for the outcome in the original post is the French were in no shape continue attacking through 1917, after the disastrous Nivelle Offensive, and the mutinies in the aftermath, which themselves were on top of the bleed-out of Verdun from the prior year.

Now things could be done to mitigate that condition perhaps. Like the German command perhaps not having the moral courage to sacrifice much of its forward line in the early months of 1917 and retreating back many square miles and razing the no man's land. That could leave their lines overextended and undermanned and genuinely vulnerable to even a Nivelle Offensive (which would take place earlier against a different, better studied set of tactical objectives), and accompanying British actions.

Thanks for the deets - they compounded obnoxious trolling with self-martyrdom in anger when called out on it.

Actually - would you mind deleting your reply with my quote? With my curiosity satisfied, no need to keep the permanent record and speculation archived in this particular thread. Thanks-
