I'd probably give it Apsheronsky, Belorechensky, Goryachy Klyuch and Mostovsky districts; now connected to the other Circassian republics, they would be merged into one, larger Circassian republic. Not that it would be very Circassian, but that's pretty common with these ethnic republics. Which gives me another idea: abolish them entirely.

Instead, ethnic minorities may from more granular areas from municipalities. "Unions of X Municipalities" and such. This will allow them more efficient self-governance on the local level, as well as destroy pseudo-cartel-ish "states within states" (looking at you, Chechnya). Not that it really matters - Russian federal subjects are far less "relevant" as a concept than, let's say, US states. The entire country would be divided into regions based on purely geographic-economic-functional criteria, with the ethnic representation system wholly separate from it

All other partially recognised states will be treated as part of the country that de jure controls them.
  • I will be treating Hong Kong and Macau as independent from China, although as they fall below the 5000 km² threshold I will not be redrawing their subdivisions.
Anyways, here's the first one:
United States (50 states + 1 federal district + 5 territories -> 73 states + 1 federal district)

My anger and pure unbridled vitriol for what you've done to my beloved Tennessee will not be halted. The fact we are no longer the wiener of the Mississippi is angering to me. Although we can still technically be counted as such you've circumcised it and that brings unbridled rage to every fiber of my being. Also good luck telling anyone in east Tennessee to go by Muscogean or Wataugan. Those here who do have Native blood are descent of the Cherokee tribe or the Creek. West Tennessee was mostly Chickasaw, as the Choctaw were mostly in Alabama or Mississippi.

If you're going to use native names for fantasy states, you might as well use names for those who actually inhabited those lands.
