As a heads up, the links for all the Ancient and Classical maps on the Wiki page up to 250 BCE are broken, as is the "editable template". Anyone have these files?
I'm legitimately surprised nobody asked for a patch of this here, it'd be important if anyone makes a 1789 mapView attachment 660379
Second Partition of Poland patch.
I actually did this because a friend requested a patch, just not on this thread lol.I'm legitimately surprised nobody asked for a patch of this here, it'd be important if anyone makes a 1789 map

Second Partition of Poland patch.
there's a few that are threadmarked and several more scattered throughout this thread, so that could be a startThinking about this, maybe we could have a small patches repository for stuff like this when we don't have a full world map, so that we don't lose it
I actually have a folder with a couple hundred patches somewhere.Thinking about this, maybe we could have a small patches repository for stuff like this when we don't have a full world map, so that we don't lose it
send or i will commit manslaughterI actually have a folder with a couple hundred patches somewhere.
👀If post a link to that folder, I'll threadmark that / put it on the main post. That sounds incredible.I actually have a folder with a couple hundred patches somewhere.
I haven't updated the wiki in forever; I slightly reformated the links to some of the maps a while back and didn't update them on the wiki. The links in the main post of this thread should work.As a heads up, the links for all the Ancient and Classical maps on the Wiki page up to 250 BCE are broken, as is the "editable template". Using the Video for the apolitical map, I've updated the map for June 2021

Correct; I'll threadmark this, but I don't want to add a link on the main thread post to avoid confusion. Keeping things consistent to Jan 1 avoids a lot of ambiguity in maps. The maps are only for January 1 of each year.
Um, what are the black spots in China for?Using the Video for the apolitical map, I've updated the map for June 2021

They're lakes that are to small to have water pixels.Um, what are the black spots in China for?
Its like some parts are correct and others are utterly wrong in both maps (its a bit disconcerting)As @Pen mentioned, the old worlda's were uh, not great and I put some paragraphs on the original post explaining that. Here's the 1200 map from the old series. Note the different land color in east siberia, the number of uncolored countries, and other such wonderful features such as borders that don't line up with other years.View attachment 623901
For comparison, here's the new one:

Okay, in the 2020 and 2021 maps orange is used to denote first-division border disputes, so you can use that. So, I don't know how to show the disputed border between the Capitanía General de Chile (General-Captaincy or Captaincy-General, I don't recall the exact term in English) and the Audiencia de Charcas.
Use this:Also, there is no way of mapping the expansion of Mapuche influence to the eastern side of the Andes.
The mapuche didn't reach that far into the northeast, and also hadn't expanded all the way at the time of the map (aka prior to 1776)Okay, in the 2020 and 2021 maps orange is used to denote first-division border disputes, so you can use that.
