An alternate toonami history (pop culture timeline in the style of timeline 93)

Web swinging across New York ensures a good time
1 August 2004 (filler post)
While i am optimistic the week ahead will be pretty good having to go back to school will be a bit of a challenge but at least the fact that toonami will still exist and be waiting here for me when I get home will get me through that school week and what was interesting on toonami today was the latest game review they put out take a listen
TOM 3-“We really do like a good game based on marvel comics and spider man 2 for the PlayStation 2 really takes the cake of some of the best I’ve played it follows the plot of the movie pretty well and really portrays the fight scenes between spider man and Doctor octopus almost exactly like how the movie depicted it a few extra elements have been added here and there like an extra portion with rhino in it as the main villain but hey goes to show that game adaptations of movies can’t be copy paste all the time the graphics may need a bit of work but at least the web swinging is fun toonami gives spider man 2 for the PS2 7/10 you really do do what a spider can.-“
Seems like it’s promising.

A pack of school holidays to remember
19 September 2004
It has only been two days into the school holidays for this term and already my parents have told me about family plans to go to New Mexico and I for one couldn’t be more excited since it’s where Atlantic animation are based and from what I have heard from a text conversation I had with Richard Hunt the founder Mark Dindal may show me some reels from a tv series he is working on called Transylvania high so that is interesting and another interesting thing that happened today was what toonami have told me about their evening lineup for this month take a listen
TOM 3-“School holidays are here.-“
SARA-“And toonami has your holiday evenings packed with a lot of good shows.-“
TOM 3-“Hell yeah,
Master the 7:00PM hour with duel masters at 7:00PM and then rave master at 7:30PM.-“
SARA-“Then the superheroes take over with teen titans at 8:00PM Zane afterwards they let the grown ups finish the hour with justice league unlimited at 8:30PM.-“
TOM 3-“They may be young but they’re not kids.-“
SARA-“Ok.-“
TOM 3-“Outlaw Star takes us to uncharted territory at 9:00PM and the demon tournament heats up in Yu Yu hakusho at 9:30PM bravestarr fires a lot of guns at 10:00PM and the night really goes dark with spy kids at 10:30PM hyperspace evenings every evening from 7:00PM to 11:00PM only toonami on channel 616.-“
Interesting evenings there.
Elvis Seymour

Exactly two months later
19 November 2004
I really have been liking the evening block of toonami called hyperspace evenings and my favourite part of the block is double DC shows teen titans and justice league unlimited and for the most part the competition hasn’t responded yet although speaking of the competition slam! have made a rather interesting speech that makes me optimistic becoming a teenager in the future especially if I get PTSD from the bullying i used to get take a listen
Sicke-“Everyone gets older at some point but people get a little thing about getting older called angst angst is normal among most teenagers and a lot of them don’t really know how to handle it but some know that there are some resources there to help you get through it so hoepfully you find help with your angst when you get it or even if you get it.-“
Good on you for taking that away from me.

Do you remember the 20th night of September
20 September 2004 (filler post)
I have gotten the period that we will be going into New Mexico for and it will be during the middle stretch of October so best let the school know that I will not be in for a lot of that period for that exact reason and while I was getting that information I saw something go up on the tv that may have hooked me on oddysey network continuing to compete with toonami in the action network game take a listen
announcer-“When the Moya comes under attack while exploring uncharted space waters it will be up to a alien group of adventurers to try to stop the ongoing peacekeeper wars before things really come to a head farscape the peacekeeper wars special mini series premieres 26 March 2005 followed by the American premiere of the new British sensation doctor who across the 8:00PM hour you’re watching odyssey network.-“
Will make sure to watch for this premiere as it does seem interesting especially to my dad.

More and more Christmas is coming closer
16 December 2004
I have finally come out of school for the year and I do feel very sorry for the teachers who have to spend another day at school before they take the Christmas period off but at least students have the entire period off and I for one have my Christmas all planned out where I will spend it with family and also spend it with the channels that I frequently watch like toonami and stuff like that and speaking of toonami for the month of december they have been decorating the absolution which I do give them kudos on but also for the Thursday night block they have called toonami network extreme they gave a speech that is very much telling that we are in the month of December take a listen
TOM 3-“Do a lot of people know that it’s Christmas time again SARA?-“
SARA-“Yep,
and as a result a lot more people are talking about the conecept of charity.-“
TOM 3-“I’m guessing that’s an earth concept how about you take over for this speech SARA.-“
SARA-“Thanks,
charity can mean a lot of things but in the month of December particularly it means giving out your heart to those that are in need of it most like the homeless the sick the poor and even those that are missing a limb or two they often say that Christmas is the best time to give people new things but the 1% don’t often do that to our advantage so if you want to donate to support the unfortunate you have our full support here help the unfortunate get back up on their feet.-“
Thanks for speaking to the people that do like the fact that Christmas means giving.

A rare airing for a network that has just started up
11 June 2004 (Filler post)
Another week at school has now come and gone and I for one really missed talking to Brad Bird so this Tuesday as a part of the pen pals program that my school has I wrote a letter to him and posted it to him on that day and today I got a letter back from him saying that he has been doing very good lately and that in two weeks time he will be going to Colorado to get started on work for a pitch that he and Kevin Clash have come up with for a show that is similar to what he did in the 90s with the iron giant called prodigal that they will be sending to Nick eon in the near future which is quite coincidental considering that right now on Nick eon his movie with light bulb animation the incredibles is airing so very interesting and I wish Brad and Kevin the best of luck in getting the pitch for prodigal through.

Christmas continuing to be good
25 December 2004
I have had a really good Christmas today so far I got the games the legend of Zelda the minish cap ratchet and clank up your arsenal and spider man 2 as the gifts that are under the tree and I had a pretty big and good lunch and also today i saw that odyssey network were doing a Christmas event where they aired a lot of the Christmas stuff that Jim Henson enterprises has done over the years of their existence take a listen to this bumper I saw after an ad
Kermit-“It’s the muppets Christmas bash with our very special guest you the viewers.-“
announcer-“Yes,
All day across Christmas we are putting a pause on our regular programming to show you all the great Christmas programming our join venture owners Jim Henson enterprises has done across the years of their existence and now we return to the muppet Christmas carol playing across the screens of people that have odyssey network across America have a merry Christmas.-“
Thank you very much odyssey network I will have myself a merry Christmas.

Is this an early Valentine’s Day present or what
2 February 2004 (filler post)
The full weeks at school have begun for the year and I am already feeling like this year is going to be one full of ups and downs but what is an definite up for this month is the fact that we are getting an inter company collaboration between Nickelodeon and Williams street studios in the form of a marathon of what the usually slam! series one piece has aired so far with it being done on toonami for a day take a listen
TOM 3-“The season of love is here and while we may not give out flowers or boxes of chocolates and stuff like that we have an even better gift for you because you are our Valentine on the 14th of this month toonami is doing something that it never usually does air what the competition is usually airing one day of one piece airs all day on 14th of February 2004 only toonami.-“
blast.
blast indeed I may have to find a friend to watch it all with.

Maybe I treated you too harshly captain flamingo
29 March 2004 (filler post)
School wraps up on Friday and I personally cannot wait for that day to come because yesterday while I was going back and forth between toonami and jetix I saw an episode of captain flamingo and I personally rather enjoyed it so I feel like I should take back the comment I made back in September about how I was expecting captain flamingo to flop because it ain’t flopping at all so my school holidays will be spent not only watching toonami for toonami and jetix for captain flamingo and speaking of jetix I found this promo for the adventures of the galaxy rangers season 3 and Richard Hunt may have just done it again take a listen
Announcer-“The sirius galaxy has come under attack once again and the galaxy rangers will have to be called back into it to fight a possible war that they may not be able to win but knowing them and their streak they likely will but who knows for those that loved season 1 and season 2 here’s a third course to your tv dinner adventures of the galaxy rangers season 3 premieres 30 June 2004 at 5:00PM only skylines on jetix.-“
Yep will try to tune in then.

A marathon of a game review
30 September 2004 (filler post)
Boy was yesterday a lot of fun as my friend group and I went bowling at Holey moley and I for one definitely had a lot of fun and my friends definitely agreed but yeah enough about yesterday and on to today and today toonami did a game review for Lego Star Wars the video game that was developed by the North Carolina based game development company traveler’s tales that actually gave an accurate review to how I have felt about the game since I got it for my birthday a few days ago take a listen
TOM 3-“Last Saturday we had a marathon of both samurai Jack and Star wars clone wars at the same time so when better to do a review of this Lego based Star Wars video game then while it is in our immediate memories so Lego Star Wars it is basically what it says on the jar where it is an adaptation of the current Star Wars movies in Lego form and can I just say it was pretty good for the execution of the goal that they set out to do plus the dev team really had a nice touch adding some bonus levels based on the Indiana Jones movies with the fact that Harrison Ford played both Han Solo and Indiana Jones so I will give the game bonus points for that toonami gives Lego Star Wars the video game 7/10 may the force be with you players.-“
Thanks for perfectly summing up my feelings.
Elvis Seymour
note bowling alleys in mini golf complexes is a thing I went to one two days ago

A new year’s after lunch miracle
31 December 2004
As usual this year has been one where you never quite knew what you were going to get like how I really started to watch the hyperspace evenings block of toonami instead of the afternoon block which is odd even for me despite the fact that I still watch the afternoon block a little bit but anyway after I got back from having lunch with my family for my aunt’s birthday last week I saw a promo for the lineup that will be on hyperspace evenings starting from tomorrow and it is quite interesting how an hour of teen titans can really make a difference take a listen
TOM 3-“Ever heard of the expression new year new you?-“
SARA-“Well toonami has a new spin on it by way of new year new lineup.-“
TOM 3-“Well sort of new lineup as we do have some returning favourites.-“
SARA-“Duel masters throws down at 7:00PM,
then an extra episode of teen titans brings some pows and whams at 7:30PM.-“
TOM 3-“The true airing of teen titans packs a punch at 8:00PM.-“
SARA-“Doesn’t the 7:30PM airing also count as the true airing?-“
TOM 3-“It’s mainly an experiment for the month of January,
if January ends and people like the double episodes we will carry it on for the rest of the year.-“
SARA-“Ok.-“
TOM 3-“Justice league unlimited wraps up the superhero hour at 8:30PM and a new superhero hour begins with avengers United they stand at 9:00PM.-“
SARA-“It ain’t going to be a superhero hour though.-”
TOM 3-“Just thought I would play it up for the sake of wanting to get back to the new year’s bash we have on.-“
TOM 3-“What really is airing at 9:00PM is megas XLR and we find hei’s sister on Yu Yu hakusho at 9:30PM barvestarr continues it’s tradition of rounding up intergalactic threats at 10:00PM then the evening gets slashed out of existence with Ruroni Kenshin at 10:30PM hyperspace evenings continues 1 January 2005 from 7:00PM to 11:00PM only toonami on channel 616.-“
We will see how the extra episode of teen titans experiment goes for them tomorrow.

A transportational blast to the past
1 January 2005
The year has only just started and I feel like I have accomplished what I needed to do for my new year’s resolution and that was to catch up on jetix about Kim Possible and so far I am really liking it Laika may have a good animated series on their hands aside from one piece also while I was collecting some eggs from our chickens for an egg sandwich for my lunch alongside mom I came across this bumper on toonami yesterday which I cannot help but feel is toonami doing a bit of an experiment which will really make my dad interested in this network take a listen
TOM 3-“Well happy new year toonami faithful SARA and I both know that this year toonami will be turning 9 years old and this here will be a bit of a perfect storm as we also got a letter from Berny Varnham from Little Rock Arkansas asking if we would have a nostalgia based block on our network kind of similar to how Cartoon Network has boomerang so the idea will be put into motion past discoveries premieres 17 December 2005 at 2:30PM afternoon teas never felt so nostalgic only toonami on channel 616.-“
Will make sure to tune in then even though it really is close to Christmas.
Elvis Seymour
note before any of you make accusations that I am jumping on to the toonami rewind hype I actually had the idea for this kind of block since mid to late March of this year well before toonami rewind was announced so yeah

Colonel I made it on toonami today
8 March 2005
What initially started out as me thinking that this week at school was going to be a bad week has all of a sudden improved as today we had an unexpected visitor in that of dreamworks animation’s chief creative officer Frank Oz and boy was that a good experience for me as after the seminar he gave I talked to him about what Richard Hunt was like at dreamworks animation and he had nothing but good things to say about him which makes me very happy speaking of very happy toonami did a game review of metal gear solid 3 which is not only making me very happy but is getting me interested in buying the game take a listen
TOM 3-“The metal gear solid series has always been one to rely on for militaristic entertainment and metal gear solid 3 really continues to ensure that the pattern is intact for Konami the gameplay here is kind of expected when you play as snake where you have to hide in boxes and ensure that you are not caught by the guards but a very interesting twist added is the fact that he is not only doing it for the sake of truth justice and the shadow Moses way but also for the sake of protecting a new found family that he has well found himself in and of course the elements that make metal gear solid well solid are there as well like the voice acting is good the cutscenes are good enough material to wait for the real game with and of course the game over screen can still get a chuckle out of you toonami gives metal gear solid 3 8/10 mission sucessful.-“
Mission successful indeed.

Pigs in space! on home media
30 September 2005
There are still a few days left before I go back to school so I decided that I would spend those days in the only way I know how to do best shopping for things that may have come out earlier this year and I found a DVD of swine trek the muppets tv movie that came out on the 30th of march this year and after buying it and rewatching it it still holds up as a sci-fi parody on the same levels of something like spaceballs the puppetry is to be expected with the muppets which is to say pretty good the humour may have gone over my head but that was the goal since I don’t really know much about sci-fi as much as one of the writers did and that was accomplished the characters are good enough to carry the film and the parodies are good parodies and winks to sci fi so yeah still a good movie after a few months.

A new class and an expansion of an hour New
26 April 2005 (filler post)
Yesterday was a curriculum day for school and that was pretty good for me but now we are back in full swing and my media teacher Giselle Devin told me that she plans to experiment with the concept of a student lead tv show which in my opinion seems like a good idea and I can’t wait to see it be put into action and not only did that happen today but also after I got back from school I turned on Nick eon and saw a very interesting promo air during an ad break for the episode of one piece that is airing at the moment take a listen
Sicke-“Memorial day is coming up real soon.-“
Vivian-“And slam! has the perfect way for you to unwind and that is by way of some of the best action shows that Nick eon can offer for afternoons.-“
Sicke-“Plus an expansion by an hour does hurt either.-“
Vivian-“Emergency +4 brings the ambulance in at 2:00PM.-“
Sicke-“Then Star Trek the animated series beams the ambulance into space at 2:30PM.-“
Vivian-“Ok,
I will let you take over this one master.-“
Sicke-“Thanks,
The adventures of Jimmy Neutron boy genius does science at 3:00PM and we get a look at my life as a teenage robot at 3:30PM.-“
Vivian-“Wait a minute there,
You’re a teenage robot?-“
Sicke-“No,
i just thought I would say it for the sake of a bit.-“
Vivian-“Ok.-“
Sicke-“It’s an hour of teenagers solving mysteries with Danny Phantom at 4:00PM then Martin Mystery at 4:30PM Yu-Gi-Oh! GX plays it’s cards right at 5:00PM and we cap of the block with the premiere of hikaru no go at 5:30PM slam! every afternoon now from 2:00PM to 6:00PM à the best missions are often in jungles only slam! on Nick eon.-“
Overall a very interesting day.
Elvis Seymour
Note 1 this can be considered the director’s cut of a very recent post
Note 2 shoutout to @Otakuninja2006 for the rest of the afternoon lineup

It’s like a little prayer New
31 July 2005 (filler post)
The spooks have been coming back to me but in a good way as I have been watching hikaru no go on slam! and I have been really enjoying the angle of a supernatural sports show which on the surface definitely looks like a show that a block like slam! or even a network like jetix or toonami would air which speaking of jetix they recently aired a promo for a show that may have been from the same studio take a listen
Announcer-“When a sword takes a fatal swing against an enemy that it may have it is a very sure thing that the enemy will be struck down in a very big way especially if the enemy lives in Japan and has the same studio behind the so far smash hit hikaru no go backing them up bleach premieres 22 December 2005 at 7:00PM only on jetix.-“
Well what do you know it was made by viz animation studios and the marketing seems interesting I will try my best to watch it on premiere day.

An excursion to Maine and Viz animation studios never hurt anyone New
2 February 2005 (filler post)
It has only been a few days since we got back to school for the year and already I was told about a planned excursion to Maine and to see an animation studio that is based there called viz animation in September of this year and I personally find it ok I am sure that it won’t hurt anyone but one thing that is more then ok is that toonami today did a speech about heatwaves to prepare us for a potential one in the summer take a listen
TOM 3-“The seasons can be rough in their own ways with autumm and having to clean up the leaves winter and having to clean up snow and even spring with the concept of hayfever going around but today I want to talk to you guys about the concept of heatwaves which normally happen during the summer heatwaves as mentioned before usually happen during the summer and while some people find them at least a little bit pleasant a grand majority of people find them extremely uncomfortable and wish that they would just never exist anymore but unfortunately they are a part of life so the best way to protect yourselves from them is to slip slop slap seek and slide or even my personal favourite stay indoors which I have gotten quite accustomed to.-“
Great advice for when summer does arrive.

Sword and sorcery and anime New
10 December 2005
I was looking at the Christmas tree yesterday after I got home from school and even i could probably say for myself that the TOM ornament I made at school last week that got added to it does look quite good where it is even if it does block up some of the more traditional ornaments that are up but then again that’s my family for you and speaking of TOM today I was watching toonami as I always do on weekends and I came across a very interesting promo to something to do with sword and sorcery take a listen
TOM 3-“It’s not that often that toonami gets to air things that land within the sword and sorcery genre but when we saw the offer from the bigwigs over at Williams street studios we knew that this would be an offer that we would be unable to refuse not that we would’ve refused the offer anyway because this show over here definitely looks like it is going to be a doozy to air Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit premieres 2 January 2006 at 8:30AM some of the best shows out there have a lot of swords involved only rising sun on toonami.-“
Will definitely be a doozy and see you tomorrow after I come back from seeing the lion the witch and the wardrobe TOM.
Elvis Seymour
shoutout to @Otakuninja2006 for the idea of moribito airing on toonami

For Narnia and a good review score New
11 December 2005
I have returned from the cinema and have officially seen the lion the witch and the wardrobe with my family and may I just say that was a pretty good movie like the storytelling really felt like it was something that was pseudo ripped straight from the book while also being it’s own thing the CGI was definitely pretty good like especially coming from Jim Henson enterprises which is to be expected from them and the direction and acting is pretty good as well but today while I was away seeing the movie I had the TV record toonami for me and appropriately enough when I left a game review for the tie in game aired take a listen
TOM 3-”While SARA and i were overseeing the preproduction of the T.I.E crash landing which will be coming out across 9 episodes across late June early July next year I happened to pick up a copy of the tie in game to the latest high fantasy craze that is going around the world at the moment the chronicles of Narnia the lion the witch and the wardrobe it‘s plot is basically the same as the novel and the movie as well so if you want to get caught up in the plot get invested in those but outside of that the game definitely adapts that plot pretty well the cutscenes are I guess ok but with the production company of the movie Jim Henson enterprises supervising through their interactive entertainment branch what is there really to complain about the gameplay is a huge improvement where you take up either one of the children and play from their point of view which are all made on individual pathways and that right there is a pretty good reason to buy this game toonami gives the chronicles of Narnia the lion the witch and the wardrobe for the PS2 and game boy advanced 8/10 let the lion roar.-“
Indeed as I may be buying it on my school excursion to the mall on Wednesday.
